How to Forgive Someone Who Won't Apologize (And Why You Need To)

January 5, 2026

They hurt you. They were wrong. And they're never going to apologize.

How do you forgive someone who won't even admit they were wrong?

The Reframe That Changes Everything

Forgiveness isn't about saying what they did was okay. It's about releasing yourself from the prison of needing them to admit it wasn't.

You're not forgiving them because they deserve it. You're forgiving them because YOU deserve to be free.

The 3-Step Process

Step 1: Name What They Took From You

Don't minimize it. What did they actually take? Trust? Safety? Time? Peace?

Step 2: Grieve the Apology You'll Never Get

You wanted them to see what they did. To admit it. To make it right. And they never will. That's a loss.

Step 3: Decide to Be Free

Say this out loud: "I release you from the debt you owe me. Not because you deserve it, but because I deserve to be free."
